2010 Client Accomplishments

The Indoor Triathlon folks did great.  Everyone had an excellent race.  Feedback from the swim clinics was awesome so look for more of those next year.  Here are some individual accomplishments thus far in 2010:

After a canceled Half Marathon at Myrtle Beach, Suzi set her sights on a Memorial Day Marathon.  Despite a few setbacks, she finished strong and with an excellent time.  Boston is not too far away!  Derek completed his first outdoor triathlon at White Lake.  He had a great time and after his own wedding "event" he will be setting his sights on the Beach to Battleship Half Ironman.  Michelle finished 9th place overall at the Greensboro Triathlon and first in her age group. Congrats to her!

After a pretty nasty fall at Salem Lake in the spring, Scott had a PR at the North Carolina Marathon and a good finish at the Earth Day Marathon in Ohio.  This year's focus is the ultra run.  He FINISHED a 50-mile trail race in Maine!!

The Dixie Diva training program continues to astound me.  Most look very scared and intimidated the first night of training.  That all changed at the Finish Line.  They all finished strong and happy.  Traci gets the award this year for most Inspirational.  It was one of the most memorable finishes that I've seen in a long time.  Thanks for inspiring all of us to set a goal and finish it, no matter what.  All my Dixie Divas ROCK and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for all of them.

2009 Client Accomplishments

Darlene finished the Run at the Rock.  This year's course was a mudfest.  Everyone struggled in the mud and the wetness but Darlene did great.  She has come so far in 6 months.

Amy finished her first marathon in a great time, while having a great time.  She picked up a new friend (imagine that) and will run again with him at the Flying Pig in May.

The Spears Women's Only Couch to 5k ladies all did fantastic.  For most of them, this was their first 5k ever.

September brought us down to White Lake for a super sprint and an international distance triathlon.  Even though there was some gabbing on the run, Erin had her best 5k time.  Casey and Tracy both finished with better times than they anticipated.  Pamela finished her first international distance triathlon and came away with first place in her division.  Suzanne and Scott competed as Team TA Duncan and finished 4th out of all the relays.

A number of the Mission Divas competed in the Triad Triathlon in August at Northeast Park and all finished strong with many talking home some age group wins.  Congrats to everyone for a great race even on those tough trail hills.

The Mission Divas were inspiring.  Most of the competitors had never done anything longer than the Dixie Divas.  Some were afraid of missing the cutoff time but everyone who raced did a wonderful job.  Suzi was the top finisher and now has her goals set even higher.  Michelle was apprehensive at first but finished strong.  Christina, as always, went with the flow and peacefully completed the race.  Jill also did a wonderful job and is now scrapping her plans of "taking a break" and looking ahead to possibly a longer race.  After trying to save a possible drowning victim and counseling someone on the run, Amy B managed to cut 10 minutes off of her 750 meter swim in only 2 months.  Casey and Tracy were true inspirations and are still friends even with Tracy passing Casey on their way to T2.  And, Lucy made her coach run faster and more importantly inspired her mother who is battling breast cancer to want to train for a triathlon as soon as she is cancer free.  Laurie did the race as a relay with a friend but ended up doing the whole race anyways and finished happier than at Dixie Divas.  And, a special thanks to Erin and Elaine, our official photographers.  The other Mission Divas are racing at the Triad Triathlon so check back soon for their accomplishments.  Pictures are on Face Book.

Still at Mission Man...after a run in with a very mean speed bump, Scott managed to pick up his bike and keep on riding.  Despite the right side of his body being one big raspberry, he finished 2nd in his age group.

The Dixie Divas did fantastic.  Everyone who stuck with the training finished the race.  We had several age group winners which was very exciting.  Pam gets the "True Grit" award for finishing the race even after breaking her toe right before the swim start.  Casey gets the "Most Improved" award for going from an almost stand still to becoming an actual triathlete.  Tracey gets the award for "Most Enthusiastic" because she is actually so proud that she is not only a runner but a triathlete (and she should be!).  Suzi gets the award for "Fastest" - duh!  Lucy and Elaine and Jill get the award for "Most Clever Bike Names".  Darlene and Fran get the award for "Most Clever Hill Name".  Everyone else including Amy G., Amy B., Michelle, Pamela, Meredith, Mary Ellen, Laurie, Stephanie, Susan, Charlotte and Beth get the award for "Inspiration".  Thanks to all of them for trusting me to coach them.  I'm so very proud.  Look for pictures on Face Book!

Michelle completed the Cooper River Bridge 10k with a PR of over 2 minutes.   Jessie won her age group at Belews Lake and is swimming faster than she did in high school.  Both performed awesome at the White Lake Half.  This was the first time for both of them at this distance.  Michelle experienced some weird bird issues on the bike but overcame them to have an awesome bike split.  Jessie braved the heat the 2nd weekend and managed to hang in there and finish.  She also got up early to lead off the all girl’s relay in the sprint the next day, leading them off on their first place victory.

Pamela was a winner in her division at MAP, Belews Lake and the White Lake Sprint.  Laura joined Pamela as they both braved the high winds at MAP and did fantastic. Pamela also just PR'd her Charleston race by about 3 minutes!

Having not run the marathon distance in over 26 years, Scott felt fantastic after completing the Frosty 50K at Salem Lake in January and also won his age group at Belews Lake and placed 2nd in his age group at White Lake.

Amy ran her fastest all time 5k at the Eggstravanza 5k at Bur Mil Park by 2 minutes and finished with a big smile on her face.  She also completed her first open water triathlon at White Lake.  She conquered her fear of the water and showed true grit and determination.  The big smile at the finish is becoming her trademark.

Kristin and Anthony completed the Carmel Sprint Triathlon for the 2nd year in a row.  The course was different and the weather was a little wet but they both did fantastic; bettering their times from the previous year.  Anthony then went on to complete the Mini Marathon just under his goal time.
